CYBERKNIFE COULD HELP THOUSANDS WITH CANCER MORE than 3,200 cancer patients a year could be helped if a new tumour-blasting treatment was made widely available on the NHS, a report has claimed. A year long study by scientists has concluded that CyberKnife treatment, which can target inoperable tumours, should be offered “to all suitable cancer patients in England”. It delivers focused radiation therapy where it is needed, without destroying surrounding healthy tissue.

It has also proved a major breakthrough in the treatment of brain tumours, lung and pancreatic cancers. It requires no long hospital stays or follow-up chemotherapy.

The Government commissioned report by the National Radiotherapy Implementation Group into Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy said a national tariff for the cost of the treatment must now be established so that it can be widely used on the NHS.

The machines can be used for 20 minutes at a time. The eight intensity settings allow you to tailor them to your own needs.
