Chiropractic is a therapy which involves gentle and specific adjustment (or manipulation) of the joints of the body but concentrating mainly on the spine.  It aims to diagnose, treat and manage conditions that come about because of problems originating in the joints, tendons, ligaments and nerves of the body.  The objective is to improve the efficacy of the body’s own nervous system to help it to heal itself.

By law, a qualified practitioner will be a member of a recognised professional body and will have spent at least four years in training.  The therapy has roots in ancient Greek and Chinese civilizations but the modern practice of chiropractic came about in the late nineteenth century.  It is now considered a primary health care profession in the UK and in many areas it can be accessed through the NHS.

Chiropractic is chosen by some because it is a non-invasive therapy that involves no drugs or surgery
